The year of 2008 is the 30th anniversary of China’s reform and opening to foreign investment policy under Dengxiaoping’s leadership. The international capital investment in the past 30 years has been mostly concentrated in the China’s eastern and coastal areas, export—oriented industries.

How can China’s economy integrate with international capital and develop China’s western areas? Etech Securities and Phoenix Satellite Television (US) have partnered to hold a high-level World Capital Forum in Chongqing in order to facilitate the development of Chongqing and it surrounding areas. Attendees will be some well-known economists from both China and United of States, high level leaders of the Chinese government and institutions, entrepreneurs and professionals from international financial firms.

Chongqing is chosen for the host city of this historical forum because it is the most important inland city in China and the representative city of southwestern regional development. With this Forum international institutions and private equity investors will increase their understanding of China and the opportunities in Chongqing. It will help Chinese enterprises in Chongqing know more about the international channels as well as raise the visibility of Chongqing both domestically and overseas.

The Forum will be covered by international media both domestically and internationally. Phoenix Satellite Television (US) plans on covering the Forum giving Chongqing exposure to a huge American market and one fifth of the entire oversea Chinese population in America. Press conferences will be held and major Chinese newspaper and television coverage is anticipated.
